Craig Michael Schmidt

Craig Michael SchmidtCraig Michael Schmidt was born in Sullivan, MO to Melissa (Mitchell) Spurgeon and Edwin Schmidt, Jr. on October 18, 1994.

Craig could often be found spending time outdoors fishing, hunting, and riding four wheelers with his younger siblings.  He worked as a masonry laborer and enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle.  He was skilled at working with his hands and was often heard saying, “I can fix that.”  Craig had a love for music and taught himself how to play the guitar. Craig attended Sullivan Christian Church and was baptized on November 20, 2015.  He will be remembered by family and friends for his wittiness but most profoundly, his big smile. 

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Melissa and Ryan Spurgeon of Sullivan; his father and step-mother, Edwin and Susan Schmidt of Sullivan; brother, Mitchell Schmidt; sisters, Kara Schmidt, Kayla and Rylee Spurgeon; maternal grandparents, Carol Mitchell of Sullivan, Sandrey Cooper of Belle, MO, Mike and Linda Spurgeon of Steelville, MO; paternal grandparents, Rene and John Cuneio of Sullivan and Carol Banta of Steelville; maternal great-grandmothers, Grace Spurgeon of Bland, MO; Edith Becker  of Steelville, MO; other relatives and many friends.

Craig was preceded in death by his grandfather, Edwin Schmidt, Sr. and his beloved girlfriend, Madison Bartle. 

Sean Adams, a special family friend, officiated at the funeral services which were conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan with interment in Crow Cemetery. Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church in Sullivan.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foundation for Franklin County on behalf of Craig Michael Schmidt. 

Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO.
