Ms. Phyllis Ann Benton (Ross) passed away on July 7, 2016 around 2 p.m., at the age of 81. Phyllis was born and raised in Sullivan, MO where she completed all of her schooling and was an avid student and a member of many sports teams and clubs.
On November 25,1953, Phyllis was married to Donald J. Ross and in 1956, the family packed up and moved to Arizona. She resided in both Tucson and Phoenix choosing to retire in Tucson in 1994. Her family convinced her to move to Phoenix in 2013 so she would be closer.
Phyllis is survived by a son, Steven D. Ross and his wife, Barbara, of Glendale, AZ; a daughter, Teresa J. Ross, of Phoenix, AZ; a granddaughter, Shannon Ross, 43, also of Phoenix, AZ, a grandson, Travis Ross, 38, of Detroit, MI, two great-grandsons, Greg Houston, 22, of Brooklyn,NY and Chevy Ross, 2, of Detroit, MI. Also surviving Phyllis is a sister, Jackie Benton Marks of Gardner, IL, and 4 brothers, Dale Benton and wife, Pam of Ozark, MO, William Reeves of MO, James Reeves of Columbia, MO, Kenneth Reeves of Sullivan, a special niece, Christine Marks Davis of Sullivan, her lifelong friend Maria Higgins of Tucson, AZ and many friends and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her son, Gregory Ross, who passed away in 1977 at the age of 17.
A celebration of life will be held in Sullivan at the IOOF Cemetery on October 1, 2016 to bring her back “home,” which was her final request.
