On Saturday, November 5th, 2016, at 82 years of age, Arlie Austin Dixon, Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep at home from natural causes. He was attended by his wife of 58 years, Victoria “Vicki” Dixon, and his beloved cat Princess.
Arlie was a spiritual, generous, gregarious grandfather and father who valued his religion, his family, movies, old Westerns, and his pets. He was born February 1, 1934 in Sullivan, MO to Nanny and Arlie Dixon, Sr. He had a twin sister, Arlene, and 6 more sisters and a brother.
Arlie served in the Navy in the Korean War on a destroyer in order to “send money home” to his mother and sisters. He and Vicki lived in Mt. Pleasant, IA for 20 years where all five of their children were born. They moved to Farmington, NM in 1979, where Arlie switched careers from being a lineman to owning his own business: Dixon Janitorial Service. Through this business, he gave each of his children a strong work ethic. Arlie was a devout Jehovah’s Witness who, as an anointed, had the heavenly hope. He spent the years of his retirement as a dedicated auxiliary pioneer.
Arlie is survived by his wife, Vicki Dixon, and his five children: Greg Dixon, Gail Dixon-Willden, Dr. Timothy Dixon, Tamara Dixon, and Crystal Garcia. He also has five great-grandchildren and 13 grandchildren: Jordan, Morgan, Corbin, Logan, Clair, Spenser, Austin, Scarlett, River, Parker, Jade, Cole, and Mykah.
