Teresa Ann Hohensee

Teresa H.color webTeresa Ann Hohensee, age 57, of Union, MO (formerly of Sullivan, MO), passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO.

Teresa was born February 24, 1960 in St. Louis, MO. Daughter of Darrell G. Hohensee and Georgia A. (Adkison) Hohensee.

From day one, Teresa was an exceptionally special child. She was a special needs child who had Prader-Willi syndrome but that did not keep her from living a meaningful life full of love and adventure. Teresa received her formal education and graduated from Autumn Hill School in Union, MO in 1981. She went on to work at the sheltered workshop (EMPAC) for 28 years. She was a valued employee and friend to many there. Teresa had many hobbies and was very active. Her hobbies included:  bowling, puzzles, lite brite, making pot holders and many more. Every year, Teresa would collect soda cans and the money that she earned was used to pay her way for camp. Many of her friends would collect their own cans and give them to Teresa each year to support her cause. Teresa always looked forward to her trips to Camp MoVal and Branson each year. Teresa was very involved in Special Olympics and she proudly kept each and every medal that she won.

Teresa lived a very blessed life and was a blessing to many. She will forever be loved and remembered by her family and closest friends.   

Teresa is survived by her mother Georgia Hohensee of Sullivan; one brother Michael Hohensee of Sullivan; one sister Veneasa Erickson and husband, Donnie, of Bourbon; two nieces Kati Hulsey of Sullivan and Sherri Burch and husband, Michael, of Sullivan; one nephew; Keith Hohensee of Sullivan; three great nieces, Kya Hulsey, Sophie Burch and LeeAnn Kamler; one great-nephew Ralphie Kamler and many other family and friends.

Over the years, Teresa has been cared for by very loving and special caregivers. Her family would like to thank those people who helped make her life so special and full of joy.

Teresa was preceded in death by her father Darrell Hohensee; and one nephew Michael Kamler.

Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m., on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with interment in I.O.O.F. Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation was from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.

Memorials to Developmental Services of Franklin County for Special Olympics are appreciated.
