Anthony (Tony) R. Montileone

Tony MontileoneAnthony (Tony) R. Montileone, 69, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.

Tony, as he was known, was born on February 7, 1948 to Anthony Joseph and Bernice (Brooks) Montileone in St. Louis, MO. He honorably served his country with the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, earning the Navy Commendation Metal with Combat V; Purple Heart Medal; Combat Action Ribbon; National Defense Service Metal; Vietnam Service Medal with 4 Battle Stars; Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation with Frame and Palm; and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device (60-). On March 2, 1972 Tony was united in marriage to JoAnn Dott in Clayton, Missouri. He raised his family in Barnhart, MO while working for St. Louis Water Company as an engineer. The family moved to Dittmer in 1981 and to Sullivan in 1988 where Tony was employed by the City of Sullivan as both an engineer and inspector before retiring in 2011.  Tony enjoyed craft projects, painting bird houses, camping, fishing and nature, but above all, he loved his family.

Tony is survived by his wife JoAnn (Dott) Montileone of Sullivan; three sons, Randy and Rick Baughman of Arnold, MO and Greg Smith of Sullivan, MO; three daughters, Kristina Montileone of Sullivan, MO, Gina Carey of O’Fallon, MO and Robyn (Christopher) Jones of Stanton, MO; thirteen grandchildren; one sister Delores Uzzle of House Springs, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents; Anthony Joseph and Bernice (Brooks) Montileone; and his brother Mike Montileone.

Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Sullivan with Father Paul Telken officiating. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO with full military honors. 

Visitation was from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
