Norma J. Spindler, age 87, of Sullivan, MO passed away Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Missouri Baptist Hospital in Sullivan.
Norma Jean was born August 19, 1929 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of John and Leona (Record) Pounds. She grew up and attended school in various places including Sullivan, before graduating from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, MO. Norma was united in marriage to Cranford Spindler on June 11, 1949 in Union, MO. To this union two daughters were born: Debbie and Diane. Together, they raised their family in Sullivan. Norma stayed at home while the girls were in school and eventually worked at various places in town. She was a gifted seamstress who loved sewing, crafts, and crocheting. Norma also enjoyed fishing as well as playing Dominoes with her friends over the years. Her true love though was time spent with her grandchildren. Norma attended First Baptist Church and New Testament Baptist Church and taught many years of Sunday School. She also served as a Brownie Leader locally.
Norma is survived by her husband, Cranford of Sullivan; two daughters, Debbie (Curt) Crosser of New Florence, MO and Diane (Don) Volner of Sullivan; six grandchildren: Gretchen Morrison of Wildwood, MO, Brandon (Jen) Martin of Lee’s Summit, MO, Travis (Tara) Martin of Columbia, MO, Tonya ( Rich) Converse of Bourbon, MO, Jimmy Rohrer of Leasburg, MO, Melanie (Mark) Hardy of Sullivan; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; three sisters: Wanda (Bob) Thompson of Sullivan, Eileen Kuenzel of Granite City, IL, and Mary Ann Frye of Sullivan; one brother, Johnny Pounds of Sullivan; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bob Pounds; and a sister, Shirley Landing.
Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan with Pastor Dave Wright officiating. Interment will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Sullivan, Missouri.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
