Pearl Mastin

Pearl Mastin, of Sullivan, MO, passed away Friday, July 8, 2016 at the age of 95 years and three months.

Pearl was born in St. Clair, MO on April 8, 1921 to the late Jess and Lillian (Manning) Hawkins. She made her home in the St. Clair area until her marriage.  On October 20, 1940, she was united in marriage to Ray Mastin and to this marriage five children were born of which a son, Gary preceded her in death. 

Pearl was a devoted mother and homemaker and she and her husband owned and operated the Spring Bluff Store. One of her greatest pleasures was mowing grass.  Pearl mowed, by push mower, up to 2 acres which she stated to everyone that that’s how she got her exercise and enjoyment of the outdoors. Living to the age of 95, she has set the example for many people.  Pearl also found pleasure in scrapbooking, canning and playing cards. She was known as an ideal mother, providing for her family and devoting unconditional love to them all. Family gatherings, especially on Sunday, were special times for Pearl where she would prepare dinner and afterwards, plays games and cards.  She accepted the Lord as her Savior at age 92 and attended Spring Bluff Baptist Church.

She is survived by three sons, Kenneth Mastin and wife Pat, Ronnie Mastin and wife Jane and Michael Mastin and wife Mariam all of Sullivan; one daughter, Pam Stack and husband Paul of Sullivan; two sisters, Louise Hana of Tucson, AZ and Virginia Claspill of Sullivan; 10 grandchildren,15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Along with her husband, Ray, and son, Gary, Pearl was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Hawkins, and three sisters, Barbara Pinnell, Margaret Bailey and Elsie Carroll.

Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 12, 2016 from the Chapel of the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan, MO, with Pastors Bob Murphy and Warren Brewer officiating.  Interment was in Cave Spring Cemetery, rural Sullivan, MO.  Visitation was held from 4-8 p.m., Monday, July 11, 2016 from the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan.
