Graveside Services for Guy Patrick Whalen, age 91, of Sullivan, MO, were conducted at 3 p.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 Steelville Cemetery, Steelville, MO.
Visitation was from 12 to 2 p.m. Friday, at the Eaton Funeral Home in Sullivan, MO.
Guy Patrick known as “Pat” was born on April 23, 1925 at Steelville, MO, to Guy F. and Addie M. (Halbert) Whalen. He grew up and attended school in Steelville. He honorably served his country during World War II in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. On March 13, 1946 Pat was united in marriage to Norma Farrar in Pocahontas, Arkansas and five children were born to their union. After a short time in Steelville and Rolla the Whalen family moved to Sullivan where Pat opened a Sears Catalog Store. He operated the store until his retirement in the early 80ies. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandkids.
Mr. Whalen passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Washington, MO.
Mr. Whalen is survived by his wife; Norma Whalen of Sullivan, five children; Patrick Lynn Whalen and wife Bonnie of Leawood, Kansas, Mike Whalen and wife Marsha of Arkadephia, AR, Judy Copeland and husband Larry of Raymore, MO, Jerry Whalen and wife Vivian of Sullivan, Dawn Millheiser and husband Danny of Imperial, MO, 12 grandchildren; one brother; Harry Whalen and wife Hilda of Bella Vista, AR, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Mr. Whalen was preceded in death by his parents; Guy F. and Addie M. (Halbert) Whalen and two sisters; Henrietta and Erma Whalen.
