Services for Dean Vaughn, 62, of Sullivan were held 11 a.m., Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home Southside Chapel in Sullivan, MO with Ben Justice officiating. Burial was at Crestview Cemetery in Lonedell, MO.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m., Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home Southside Chapel, Sullivan.
Dean passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at his home due to natural causes.
Lindel “Dean” was born on May 28, 1954 to Arliss A. Vaughn and Roberta R. (Lancaster) Vaughn. He grew up and attended school in both St. Louis and Festus. He worked on the river for the Wisconsin Barge Line before meeting and marrying Kathy Hill on December 29, 1979 in St. Clair, MO.
For the next 25 years, Dean was employed by the Chrysler Corporation and retired from there in 2010. He then went to work for the Sullivan School District and remained there until his death. Known and beloved by the kids as “Matman”, this was the highlight of his working years. Dean was an avid turkey hunter, however he enjoyed all types of hunting. He also like to golf and barbecue for his family. He was the “superhero” to his family. Dean was also a member of Tri County Church of Christ in Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Vaughn; three sons: Jesse Vaughn, Cody Vaughn, and Clifton Vaughn and wife Jessica all of Sullivan; his mother, Roberta Smith and husband Jim of Bourbon; father in law, Billy Hill and his wife, Pat and mother-in-law, Roma Lee all of St. Clair; two brothers, Doug Vaughn and wife Diane of Bourbon and Ronnie Hill and wife Carol of St. Clair; one sister, Kelly Bauer and husband Walter of Wildwood, MO; 12 grandchildren: Hunter, Jayden, Bentley, Aubrianna, Dakota, Kenedie, Clifton II, Jack, Izaac, Finley, Pierce, and Esme; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his father; Arliss A. Vaughn.
