Clik here to view.Services for Robert Armistead, Sr., age 81, of Sullivan were conducted 11 a.m., Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan with burial following in Stanton Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the Eaton Funeral Home, Sullivan.
Robert Glenn Armistead, Sr. was born on March 17, 1935 to the late Thomas W. and Lula (Cox) Armistead in Stanton, MO. Robert honorably served his country in the United States Navy from June 18, 1954 to December 12, 1957 attaining the rank of Seaman First Class. On October 23, 1965, he was united in marriage to Lee Sprague in Bourbon, MO and five children were born to their union; Robert Jr., Donna, Tom, Laura and Joe. Robert was employed by the former Meramec Mining Company until it’s closing and then at Meramec Industries for 18 years, retiring in 1997. Robert was a hardworking man who appreciated everything he had. In his retirement, Robert enjoyed cutting grass, watching Cardinal Baseball, and discussing politics, but his greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.
Robert is survived by his wife Lee Armistead of Sullivan, five children; Robert Armistead, Jr. of Sullivan, Donna Ulsh of Sullivan, Tom Armistead and wife Shelley of Sullivan, Laura Richards and husband Larry of Bourbon, and Joe Armistead and wife Teri of Columbia, Missouri, 12 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren with two on the way, and four step-great-grandchildren, three sisters; Edith Parks of St. Clair, Mary Ackerman of Sullivan, and Alice Witt of Waterloo, IL; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Robert, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents; Thomas and Lula Cox Armistead, one brother; Henry Armistead and two sisters; Hazel Brown and Helen Starks.
Mr. Armistead passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at the University Hospital in Columbia.
