Norman Eugene Yates “Gene”

Norman Yates colorNorman Eugene Yates “Gene,” 61, of Miles City, Montana, passed away Friday November 6, 2015, at Billings Montana Hospital. Gene was born December 30, 1953, in Bismarck, Missouri, to John and Edith (Stroup) Yates. He married Ann Callahan on March 23, 1973 in Oakland, California. Gene served 2 years in the US Navy, and retired from the Civil Services in 1992. On June 27, 1999, Gene married Audrey Schock in Sullivan, Missouri.

Gene is survived by his wife, Audrey, of the home; Ann Yates, of Lexington, Missouri; Eleven siblings; three daughters: Madelyn “Lyn” Wilson and husband Tod, of Lexington, Missouri; Edith Yates, of San Diego, California; and Kimberly Kuehn and husband Michael, of Sullivan, Missouri; two Step-sons: Scott Walby and wife Jackie, of Longmont, Colorado, and Charles Walby and wife Anne, of Black Hawk, Colorado; one step-daughter, PJ Hefner, of Glendive, Montana; six grandchildren: Ryan and Austin Wilson, of Lexington, Missouri; Tiffany Walby, of Omaha, Nebraska; Tyler Yates, of Sullivan, Missouri; Michael Walby, of Black Hawk, Colorado; and Locke Walby, of Longmont, Colorado; and one great-grandson, Chance Wilson, of Lexington, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father and four siblings. Sadly, Gene’s mother followed him in passing three days later.

Gene’s final interment will be Friday June 24, 2016, at the Higginsville Veteran Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri, at 1:00pm. Memorials/Donations in Gene’s name may be made to a children’s hospital of your choice.
