Vassalli, Bette Ann, age 82, of Goddard, entered this world on Dec. 14, 1933, in Bourbon, MO, and went to her Lord on Monday, June 20, 2016. Bette was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. After high school, she completed business college and went to work for the railroad. She met her husband of 63 years, Dale, in Bourbon, MO, where they married in 1952. They moved from Kansas City into the Wichita, KS area in 1973. She loved being a mother and was actively involved serving as Brownie leader, PTA volunteer, Cub Scout leader, and classroom Mom. She was the stay-at-home-mom for the neighborhood children as well. After moving to Goddard in 1975, she went to work at the IRS where she retired as the secretary to the Chief of Criminal Investigations. She and Dale traveled extensively around Europe and throughout the US for many years. She is survived by her husband; son, Dale, Jr., of Austin, TX; daughter, Cindy Poteete (Tom) of Goddard; son, Gregg (Kirsten) of Wichita; daughter, Kim Roskam (Grant) of Wichita; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eleanor Nicholson; step-father, Sylvester Nicholson; father, Vernon Mecomber. Visitation beginning at 9:00 AM followed by the Funeral Services at 10 AM, Sat. June 25, both at Goddard United Methodist Church, 300 N. Cedar St., Goddard, KS, 67052. Burial service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 6231 W. 47th S., Wichita, KS 67215. Memorials have been established with Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, 313 S. Market, Wichita, KS 67202.
